Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid broke his right fibula against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday and is expected to miss eight weeks.

McQuaid, 31, was injured blocking a shot by Canucks defenseman Ben Hutton in the third period of the Bruins' 6-3 victory at TD Garden. He is scheduled to have surgery on Monday.

McQuaid was a second round pick in 2005 by Columbus.
