Brian Burke, President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Saturday that the club has recalled goaltender Ben Scrivens on an emergency basis from the Marlies of the AHL. The Leafs also announced that goaltender Jonas Gustavsson is day-to-day with a knee injury and will not be in tonight's lineup.
Scrivens has played eight games with the Maple Leafs this season, posting a 2-4-1 record with a 2.96 goals against average and a .904 save percentage.

Leafs Sign Sam Carrick To Entry Deal
Brian Burke, President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Saturday that the club has signed forward Sam Carrick to a three-year entry level contract.
Carrick, 20, played in all 68 games this season for the OHL Brampton Battalion and led the team in goals (37), assists (30), points (67), power-play goals (11) and penalty minutes (104).
The native of Stouffville, Ontario was originally the Maple Leafs fifth choice, selected 144th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Finalists For Hobey Baker Award Announced
Maine's Spencer Abbott, Jack Connolly of Minnesota-Duluth and Colgate's Austin Smith are the finalists for this year's Hobey Baker award.
The Hobey Baker Memorial Award Foundation identified the three seniors Thursday from a list of 10 candidates for the award honoring college hockey's best player.
Abbott leads the nation in scoring and assists, with 21 goals and 41 assists. He has signed with the Maple Leafs.
Maple Leafs Sign Spencer Abbott To Entry Deal
Brian Burke, President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Wednesday that the club has signed free agent forward Spencer Abbott to a one-year entry level contract. Abbott has also signed an amateur tryout contract with the Marlies of the AHL and will join the Marlies for the remainder of the regular season and Calder Cup playoffs.
Abbott, a 23-year-old native of Hamilton, Ontario played 39 games for the U. of Maine Black Bears this season and led the entire NCAA in scoring with 62 points (21 goals, 41 assists). The forward is a top ten finalist for the Hobey Baker Award given annually to the top NCAA hockey player. In four seasons at Maine, he registered 54 goals, 92 assists and 146 points with 66 minutes in penalties in 151 games played.
Hurricanes Eliminate Leafs From Playoff Contention
Cam Ward stopped 32 shots for his 21st shutout and the Hurricanes eliminated the Maple Leafs from playoff contention with a 3-0 win on Tuesday night.
Jussi Jokinen, Tim Brent and Jay Harrison scored goals for Carolina, which kept its slim playoff hopes alive for one more day.
"We got off to a good start," Ward said. "We were ready and we carried the majority of the play in the first period. It was a solid 60-minute effort by our team."
Maple Leafs Recall Jussi Rynnas
Brian Burke, President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that the club has recalled goaltender Jussi Rynnas on an emergency basis from the Marlies of the AHL.
Rynnas has played 19 games for the Marlies this season compiling a record of 9-8-1 with a 2.48 goals against average, a .911 save percentage and three shutouts. The goaltender has also appeared in 14 games for the ECHL’s Reading Royals. In 14 games with Reading he has registered an 8-5-1 record, a 3.21 goals against average and .a 914 save percentage with one shutout.
The Leafs also announced that goaltender James Reimer will not be in tonight’s lineup as he has an upper body injury.
Maple Leafs Recall Kadri, Hamilton
The Maple Leafs announced Thursday that two forwards have been recalled on an emergency basis from the Marlies (AHL). Nazem Kadri and Marlies captain Ryan Hamilton joined the Maple Leafs in New Jersey today. Matt Frattin (lower body) and Clarke MacArthur (upper body) are listed by the team as day-to-day with injuries.
Hamilton is second in team scoring with 46 points in 65 AHL games. The native of Oshawa, Ontario leads the club with 23 goals and 10 power-play goals and he will be looking to make his NHL debut when the Maple Leafs face the Devils on the road Friday.
Kadri has 13 goals and 19 assists in 42 games in 2011-12 with the Marlies. He has four goals and two assists in 19 games for the Maple Leafs this season.
Leafs Sign Brad Ross To Three-Year Entry Deal
Brian Burke, President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that the club has signed forward Brad Ross to a three-year entry level contract.
Ross, 19, has appeared in 68 games with the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL this season, collecting 82 points, a plus-15 rating and 163 penalty minutes.
In 270 career games with the Winterhawks from 2007-08 to present, Ross has registered 109 goals, 136 assists, 245 points and 656 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 29 playoff games with Portland in that span, collecting 15 points with 69 penalty minutes. The forward was originally Toronto’s first choice, 43rd overall, in the 2010 Entry Draft.
Komisarek Believes Leafs Have Turned The Corner
Mike Komisarek believes the Maple Leafs “are starting to turn a corner.”
Toronto has dropped 12 of its past 14 overall.
The Leafs are playing under a two-game losing streak with new coach Randy Carlyle.
“It was disappointing coming out of the week, but I think we’re starting to turn a corner," Komisarek said.
“You look at our schedule now and we don’t have any easy games. We had a tough time last week with Boston and Pittsburgh, but if wasn’t for a shift or two, or a mistake or two here or there, we’re on the other side of those games.
“A little bit more attention to detail, like we’ve done in practice today, should pay off for us.”
Lupul Out With Separated Shoulder
The Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that forward Joffrey Lupul will be out of the lineup for an estimated three to four weeks with a separated shoulder. Colby Armstrong is listed as day-to-day with a broken nose. Both players were injured during the second period of last night’s game at home against Boston.
The club also announced that forward Carter Ashton has joined the Maple Leafs on an emergency basis from the Marlies of the AHL. Ashton, 20, was a first-round draft choice (29th overall) of Tampa Bay in the 2009 Entry Draft and he was obtained on February 27 from the Lightning in exchange for Keith Aulie.
