Milan Lucic Pleads Not Guilty To Assaulting Wife

Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic was released on personal recognizance bail Tuesday after pleading not guilty to assaulting his wife.

According to a Boston Police Department report, Lucic appeared intoxicated when officers arrived at his North End apartment early Saturday after his wife reported that he tried to choke her. Brittany Lucic told the responding officers that her husband had pulled her hair, but she said he did not try to strangle her. She declined an offer of medical treatment.

Bruins forward Milan Lucic is scheduled to be arraigned on an assault charge in connection with his arrest this weekend after his wife called police to their home and said he tried to choke her.

A Boston Police Department report released Monday said Lucic, a member of the Bruins' 2011 Stanley Cup championship team, appeared intoxicated when they arrived at his North End apartment early Saturday. According to the police report, Lucic was arrested on suspicion of assault and battery on a family member, which carries a maximum penalty of 2½ years in prison; he is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.

The Boston Bruins say Milan Lucic is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team after he was involved in an undisclosed incident Friday night.

The Bruins in a statement released Saturday did not provide any details about the incident other than to say the organization is aware of the situation and "takes these matters very seriously." The team said it would work with Lucic's family to provide any support and assistance needed.

Boston Police said it could neither confirm nor deny arresting Lucic early Saturday morning. A message sent to Lucic's agent was not immediately returned.

Blackhawks Sued Again For Ignoring Assaults

A second former player has sued the Chicago Blackhawks, claiming they covered up sexual assault allegations leveled against video coach Brad Aldrich in 2010.

The lawsuit, which was filed on Thursday in Cook County (Illinois) Circuit Court, cites 15 counts of negligence, and claims that Aldrich "groomed, harassed, threatened, and assaulted" the player, who is remaining anonymous as John Doe. In a news conference Monday, Doe's lawyer, Antonio Romanucci of Romanucci & Blandin, claimed the Blackhawks "allowed and perpetuated the conduct, and placed winning over the health and welfare of its players."

Canadiens Minority Stake Sold At Record $2.5B Valuation

Michael Andlauer, who bought the Ottawa Senators for $950 million in September, sold his 10% minority interest in the Montreal Canadiens at a record $2.5 billion enterprise value, Sportico reported Wednesday.

The Molson family, which owns a controlling stake in the Canadiens, exercised their option of the first right to buy Andlauer's stake.
