The NHL said it will investigate an allegation seemingly made by Evander Kane's wife that the San Jose Sharks forward bet on his own games and has intentionally tried to lose for gambling profit.

The league said Saturday night on Twitter that it was made aware of the social media posts and plans to conduct a full investigation.

An Instagram account, appearing to belong to Kane's wife, Anna, posted in a story: "How does the NHL let a compulsive gambling addict still play when he's obviously throwing games to win money? Hmm maybe someone needs to address this."

Jack Eichel's representatives released a statement Friday night saying "the process is not working," deepening the rift between the Buffalo Sabres captain and the team.

In an email to The Associated Press, agents Peter Fish and Peter Donatelli contradicted general manager Kevyn Adams by saying the Sabres went against their own medical staff's recommendation in determining artificial disk replacement surgery was required to repair a herniated disk that sidelined the player for the final two months of the season.

The agents also wrote they fully anticipated Eichel would be traded before the start of the NHL's free agency period, which opened on Wednesday.

David Krejci announced he will not return to the Boston Bruins next season, leaving the NHL after 15 seasons to return home to the Czech Republic.

"Since the end of the season, as I have thought about my future, it has become clear that I need to make a difficult decision for my family and I. At this point in my career and life, I need to return to the Czech Republic and play in front of my family, who sacrificed so much to help me achieve my NHL dreams," Krejci said in a statement Friday. "I want to play in front of my parents, brother and friends. I want my children to live where I grew up."

The Columbus Blue Jackets signed defenseman Zach Werenski to a six-year, $57.5 million contract extension Thursday through the 2027-28 season.

The New York Rangers acquired Vegas Golden Knights winger Ryan Reaves on Thursday night, as they continue to muscle up in the offseason.

The Rangers sent a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft to Vegas.

Veteran forward Corey Perry has signed a $2 million, two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning, it was announced Thursday.

The 36-year-old Perry, who won the Cup with Anaheim Ducks in 2007, is joining the Lightning after losing to them in the Stanley Cup Final each of the past two seasons.

The St. Louis Blues have signed free-agent winger Brandon Saad of the rival Colorado Avalanche.

Saad, 28, agreed to a five-year contract worth $22.5 million, for a $4.5 million cap hit.

The Minnesota Wild continue to build out their defense, agreeing to a one-year, $5 million deal with Alex Goligoski, general manager Bill Guerin said Wednesday.

With the move, Goligoski returns home. The defenseman is from Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and played three seasons for the University of Minnesota.

The Boston Bruins have signed free agent forward Nick Foligno to a two-year contract with an annual cap hit of $3.8 million, general manager Don Sweeney announced Wednesday.

The Colorado Avalanche paid a hefty price to acquire goaltender Darcy Kuemper from the Arizona Coyotes after failing to come to terms with their free-agent starter Philipp Grubauer.

The Avalanche traded a 2022 first-round pick and young defenseman Conor Timmins for the 31-year-old Kuemper, a source confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday.

The Avalanche also gave the Coyotes a conditional 2024 third-round draft choice.
