Lafleur Hit With Arrest Warrant

The Associated Press is reporting that Montreal police have issued an arrest warrant for former hockey star Guy Lafleur, accused of giving contradictory evidence as a witness at his son's bail hearing. Lafleur's lawyer Jean-Pierre Rancourt says the former Canadiens' player will turn himself over to police Friday morning.

Ramage Granted Appeal, Released From Custody

An Ontario court has decided to hear the appeal of former player Rob Ramage who was sentenced today to four years in prison for a crash that killed his friend, former NHLer Keith Magnuson. Shortly after the appeal was granted, Ramage left a court in Newmarket, Ont., with his family and stepped into an SUV. His lawyer Brian Greenspan had said earlier he would seek Ramage's release on bail so he could return home to his family in St. Louis.

Ramage To Be Sentenced For Drunk Driving Accident

Former NHLer Rob Ramage could be headed to jail Thursday when he appears in a Toronto-area court for sentencing on drunk driving convictions. Ramage was found guilty in October of impaired and dangerous driving causing the death of former Blackhawks' star Keith Magnuson. Magnuson, 56, died instantly when a rental car driven by Ramage, 48, slammed head-on into another vehicle in Woodbridge, Ont., on Dec. 15, 2003. The Crown has asked for a sentence of three to five years while Ramage's lawyer has asked for a conditional sentence.

UND, UNH Hockey Players Plead Not Guilty

Two college hockey stars charged with disorderly conduct in late December here have pleaded not guilty. University of North Dakota forward T.J. Oshie, of Warroad, Minn., and New Hampshire forward Michael Radja were arrested at Oshie's apartment early in the morning on Dec. 30, hours after the two teams had finished a weekend hockey series the night before. Neither law enforcement officers nor school officials have released details of the incident. Oshie is scheduled to appear Feb. 26 for a bench trial, according to municipal court officials. A trial date has not been set for Radja. UND Coach Dave Hakstol suspended Oshie for one game. UNH Coach Dick Umile suspended Radja for two games. Oshie and Radja were the leading scorers on their teams at the time of their arrests.

UND, UNH Top Scorers Suspended After Arrests

The University of North Dakota has suspended the leading scorer on its men's hockey team after he was arrested over the weekend for disorderly conduct. Junior forward T.J. Oshie, of Warroad, Minn., will miss Friday's game at St. Cloud State for violating team rules, Head Coach Dave Hakstol announced Wednesday. "Right now, it's a one-game suspension," Hakstol said. "I can't get into the whole situation ... I'm disappointed right now." "Obviously, this will be a public issue," Hakstol said. Oshie was arrested at 2:28 A.M. on Sunday, Grand Forks police said. The Sioux, ranked No. 8 in the nation, wrapped up a two-game series with visiting New Hampshire on Saturday night. Michael Radja, a New Hampshire player, also was arrested for disorderly conduct, police said.
