Patent Office Denies Vegas Golden Knights' Trademark

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has denied the Vegas Golden Knights' trademark application a little more than two weeks after the new NHL franchise unveiled its name and logo.

The office on Wednesday cited potential confusion with the team name for the College of Saint Rose in New York, which is also the Golden Knights. The Las Vegas franchise is set to take the ice next season.

He joined former pro hockey and football players at a conference Tuesday to discuss a protocol that could be taught in schools to help young athletes recognize a head injury.

NHLPA Rejects Offer To Extend CBA For Winter Olympics

The NHL Players' Association, as anticipated, has rejected the league's proposal to extend the collective bargaining agreement three years in exchange for Olympic participation.

The news was the result largely expected from the moment the NHLPA received a verbal offer from the league, in large part because of the players' unhappiness with escrow payments in the CBA.

The union informed the NHL officially on Friday of the offer's rejection, an NHLPA spokesman told ESPN.com.
