The Blackhawks placed defenseman Steve Montador on waivers on Monday, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

Montador, who is making $2.75M, is expected to clear waivers and be assigned to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.

The Bruins have placed forward Chris Bourque on waivers, the team announced.

Other teams have until noon ET Friday to make a claim on Bourque. If he clears waivers, the Bruins will assign him to the Providence Bruins, where he played during the work stoppage earlier this season.

The Rangers have claimed defenseman Roman Hamrlik off waivers from the Capitals, a source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com.

The claim of Hamrlik was not a direct result of Marc Staal's injury Tuesday night, however. A source told ESPNNewYork.com that the team discussed putting in a claim on Hamrlik even before the incident occurred.

The Capitals have waived veteran Roman Hamrlik, according to an ESPN.com report on Tuesday.

The 38-year-old defenseman has played in only four games this season. He is in the final season of a two-year, $7M deal he signed in the summer of 2011.

Predators President of Hockey Operations/GM David Poile announced today that the club claimed forward Zach Boychuk on waivers from the Penguins and placed forward Brandon Yip on injured reserve. Boychuk is on a two-way contract worth $625,000 and the NHL level and $105,000 at the AHL level in 2012-13.

Boychuk, 23, has been held scoreless in eight NHL games with the Penguins and Hurricanes in 2012-13. Boychuk started the 2012-13 season with Carolina’s primary developmental affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, amassing 32 points in 37 games.

Drafted by the Hurricanes in the first round (14th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Boychuk was a member of back-to-back Canadian World Junior Championship-winning teams in 2008 and 2009. 

Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/GM David Poile announced today that the club claimed forward Bobby Butler on waivers from the Devils. Butler is on a two-way contract worth $525,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 at the AHL level.

Butler, 25, posted a goal and an assist in 14 games with the Devils in 2012-13 after starting the season with their AHL affiliate in Albany, amassing 27 points in 37 games.
