Pens' Cooke Suspended For Two Games

Pittsburgh forward Matt Cooke has been suspended for two games without pay, as a result of a blow delivered to the head of Carolina forward Scott Walker on Jan. 20. Based on his average annual salary, Cooke will forfeit $12,903.23. He will miss games against the New York Rangers on Jan. 28 and New Jersey on Jan. 30.

Lightning right wing Evgeny Artyukhin was suspended two games without pay on Monday for a knee-to-knee hit in a game against the Panthers, according to an Associated Press report. Artyukhin was given a tripping penalty after a late second-period collison with defenseman Ville Peltonen, who left Saturday?s game with a knee injury. Artyukhin will lose $10,215.06 in pay, which will go to the players? emergency assistance fund.

Leafs' Grabovski Suspended 3 Games

Leafs forward Mikhail Grabovski received an automatic three-game suspension without pay for shoving an official during a game Thursday in Montreal. The NHL suspended Grabovski on Friday for pushing linesman Scott Cherrey in the third period when Grabovski and Canadiens forward Sergei Kostitsyn were trying to get at one another.

Ruutu Suspended Two Games For Bite

Senators forward Jarkko Ruutu was suspended by the NHL on Wednesday for two games without pay for biting Sabres enforcer Andrew Peters. The NHL said Ruutu will lose $37,707 in pay and miss Ottawa's game at Boston on Thursday and a home game against the Rangers on Saturday. Ruutu denied he bit Peters despite replays showing he chomped down on the player's glove. "It's not really the thumb that's the issue, it's the incident that took place," Peters said. "It's weird to even think that that goes on in hockey. Even in my role, I would never think of doing something like that."

NHL Suspends Ducks' Perry Four Games

Anaheim Ducks forward Corey Perry has been suspended for four games, without pay, for elbowing Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux during the third period of NHL Game #564 Friday night, the National Hockey League announced. Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Perry will forfeit $114,516.12. The money goes to the Players? Emergency Assistance Fund. Perry will miss Anaheim's game against Phoenix Jan. 4, the home-and-home series against Los Angeles Jan. 6 and 8, and versus Tampa Bay Jan. 9. He will be eligible to return Jan. 11 against New Jersey.
