Pavelec Banned From Driving For 20 Months

Jets goaltender Ondrej Pavelec has been banned from driving for 20 months in his native Czech Republic for drunk driving. Pavelec also received a six-month suspended prison sentence for causing a traffic accident May 26 in his hometown of Kladno, west of the capital Prague.

Negotiations between the NHL and NHLPA continued for three hours Tuesday in Toronto as the sides work toward a new CBA before the current one is due to expire Sept. 15. "The parties are approaching this in an appropriate and businesslike manner and have got meetings scheduled going out into the future," NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr told Newsday. "I wouldn't draw any particular significance to it beyond that." Talks are due to continue Friday.
