The NHL on Sunday suspended Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference three games for his Saturday hit on Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh.
Ference will foreit $36,486.48 in salary during the suspension. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Jean-Francois Jacques Banned 3 Games
Ducks winger Jean-Francois Jacques has been suspended for the second time this season.
This time it was the result of an elbow to the head of Blue Jackets forward R.J. Umberger with about five minutes remaining in a 7-4 victory on Sunday night.
Jacques, who received a five-minute major penalty for the elbow, was suspended three games by the league, which took into account his classification as a repeat offender, and will forfeit $23,780.49 in salary.
He was suspended for four preseason games and five regular-season games after coming off the bench with the intention of fighting Mike Duco of Vancouver during a preseason game Sept. 24.
Rene Bourque Suspended Five Games
Flames left wing Rene Bourque has been suspended for five games for hitting the Washington's Nicklas Backstrom in the head with his elbow, the NHL announced Thursday.
As a repeat offender under the terms of the league's collective bargaining agreement, Bourque was fined $203,252, which will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
He was suspended two games last month for a hit on Brent Seabrook of the Blackhawks.
"I acknowledge my mistake, regret my action and take full responsibility. I accept the decision rendered by Brendan Shanahan on behalf of the League," Bourque said in a statement.
"I apologize to my teammates, the Flames organization and to Niklas Backstrom. I am embarrassed for what I did. These are exactly the type of plays that need to be eliminated from hockey."
Florida's Barch Suspended One Game
Panthers forward Krys Barch has been suspended one game for making an inappropriate comment directed at P.K. Subban of the Canadiens.
Barch missed Thursday night's game in New York against the Rangers.
"Mr. Barch has admitted making the remark, but denies that the comment was racially motivated," senior executive vice president of hockey operations Colin Campbell said in a statement.
"While we accept Mr. Barch's assertion, as a player in the National Hockey League, he must be held accountable for making a comment that, in the context in which it was made, and in light of the entirety of the circumstances, was offensive and unacceptable."
Barch was ejected from Florida's win over Montreal Jan. 1. The Miami Herald reported a linesman said he heard an inappropriate comment directed toward Subban, whose parents are Jamaican.
Dan Carcillo Suspended Indefinitely
Blackhawks forward Dan Carcillo has been suspended indefinitely pending a hearing with the department of player safety regarding his hit on Edmonton's Tom Gilbert in Monday night's 4-3 victory by the Oilers.
Carcillo extended his arms in hitting Gilbert into the end boards near the Edmonton net in the second period as both players were racing for the puck.
This will be Carcillo's sixth career suspension including serving two previously this season. He was held out of the first two games of the year after an altercation with officials during an intermission last postseason and then was suspended again for two games after a hit on Carolina's Joni Pitkanen in October.
Torres Hit With Two-Game Suspension
Coyotes forward Raffi Torres has been suspended two games without pay for charging Wild defenseman Nate Prosser.
Torres will forfeit $42,682.93.
He hit Prosser from behind during the first period of Phoenix's 4-2 victory Saturday night, though no penalty was called on the play.
