Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Ed Jovanovski has been suspended for one game, without pay, as a result of delivering a blow to the head of Minnesota forward Marian Gaborik during NHL game #353 against the Wild Nov. 28, the National Hockey League announced today.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Jovanovski will forfeit $34,759.36. The money goes to the Players? Emergency Assistance Fund.
Jovanovski was assessed a minor penalty for roughing at 19:43 of the third period. He will miss tonight?s game at Chicago and be eligible to return Dec. 1 at Detroit.

NHL Suspends Flyers' Hartnell Two Games For Hit On Bruins' Alberts
The NHL suspended Flyers' winger Scott Hartnell for two games for his hit on Bruins' defenseman Andrew Alberts.
Hartnell was given a 5-minute boarding penalty and a game misconduct for hitting defenseman Alberts at 14:22 of the second period during Boston's 6-3 win Monday night in Philadelphia. Andrews left the game with an unspecified head injury and will be evaluated on Tuesday.
Hartnell said after the game that the hit on Alberts was not deliberate.
Wild's Hill Returns From 20-Game Drug Suspension
Wild defenceman Sean Hill played his first game for Minnesota on Wednesday night after completing a 20-game suspension for violating the NHL's drug policy.
During last season's playoffs, Hill - then with the Islanders - was suspended April 19 after an anabolic steroid was found in his system. He missed the last game of New York's post-season and was required to sit out the first 19 Wild games this season after he signed with the club as a free agent.
In 15 minutes 14 seconds of ice time Wednesday, Hill had a team-leading five hits, blocked a shot, took one holding the stick penalty, and finished a plus-1.
AHL Suspends Wolves' Deveaux For Five Games
Chicago Wolves forward Andre Deveaux has been suspended for five regular-season games, the AHL announced Tuesday.
Deveaux's suspension is the result of his actions during an AHL game vs. San Antonio on Nov. 18. He received a match penalty under AHL Rule 47.14 for punching an unsuspecting opponent and causing injury at 15:43 of the third period.
NHL Suspends Canadiens' Kostopoulos One-Game
Forward Tom Kostopoulos of the Canadiens was suspended one game by the NHL and was not in the lineup for Monday night's game with the Senators.
Kostopoulos received the automatic suspension as a result of his late-game instigator penalty when he went after Boston Bruins' defenceman Mark Stuart during Saturday's win by the Habs.
Canucks' Ohlund Suspended For Four Games
Vancouver Canucks' defenseman Mattias Ohlund has been suspended for four games without pay, as a result of a slashing incident during NHL game #277 against the Minnesota Wild, Nov. 16.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and based on his average annual salary, Ohlund will forfeit $74,866.32. The money goes to the Players? Emergency Assistance Fund.
The incident occurred at 16:06 of the third period when Ohlund struck Minnesota player Mikko Koivu with a slash. He was assessed a slashing major and game misconduct. Koivu suffered a broken bone in his left leg on the play.
NHL Suspends Coyotes' Boynton One Game, Fines Gretzky $10,000
The National Hockey League announced today disciplinary action resulting from NHL game #251 between the Phoenix Coyotes and San Jose Sharks, November 12.
Phoenix Coyotes' defenseman Nick Boynton has been suspended automatically for one game, while Head Coach Wayne Gretzky has been fined $10,000. Boynton was assessed an instigator penalty at 15:50 of the third period.
The disciplinary action is pursuant to NHL Rule 47.22, which states "a player who is deemed to be the instigator of an altercation in the final five minutes of regulation time or at anytime in overtime, shall automatically be suspended for one game ... in addition, the player's coach shall be fined $10,000 ? a fine that will double for each subsequent incident."
The players? suspension money goes to the Players? Emergency Assistance Fund while the coach?s fine goes to the NHL Foundation.
Kondratiev Suspended After Refusing AHL Assignment
Maxim Kondratiev has refused assignment to the Portland Pirates (AHL) and has therefore been suspended from the AHL club. Kondratiev has returned to Russia with the intention of playing for St. Petersburg of the Russian Superleague. He remains property of the Anaheim Ducks.
Bell Ready To Make Leafs Debut
Toronto forward Mark Bell will be in the lineup when the Maple Leafs visit the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday and teammate Kyle Wellwood will likely join him.
Neither Bell or Wellwood has played a game this season.
Bell has been serving a 15-game suspension stemming from a drinking and driving incident in San Jose last year. That ban ended Saturday.
