NHL, NHLPA Labor Talks Stall

Labor talks between the NHL and NHLPA stalled on Friday, making a lockout increasingly likely with the current CBA set to expire Sept. 15.

After three days of discussions this week, the two sides decided to recess. The NHL and NHLPA have reached a standoff on the core economic issues and have no further talks scheduled.

Wild Prospect Mario Lucia Breaks Leg

One of the top prospects for the Wild, Mario Lucia, has suffered a leg injury and could miss three months of his freshman season at Notre Dame.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports, "Lucia said he broke his left fibula and suffered ligament damage in his left ankle when a teammate fell on him during a battle drill" on Wednesday.

Bogosian Out 4-6 Months After Wrist Surgery

The Jets announced that Zach Bogosian likely will miss 4-6 months after having surgery Friday to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist.

Bogosian, 22, had five goals and 25 assists in 65 games with Winnipeg last season.

Kyle Turris Signs Five-Year Deal With Senators

Senators GM Bryan Murray announced Wednesday that the club has signed Kyle Turris to a five-year contract extension through the 2017-18 NHL season.

Turris, 23, recently completed his third full season in the NHL and played 49 of his 55 regular season contests in 2011-12 as a member of the Senators. 

Turris established new career highs in goals (12), assists (17), points (29) and penalty minutes (27) this past season.

Ducks Sign Agreement With ECHL Fort Wayne

The Ducks announced today that the club has signed a one-year affiliation agreement with the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL.
 
The Komets make their ECHL debut in 2012-13 after winning the Central Hockey League’s (CHL) President Cup in 2011-12 with a five-game series victory over the Wichita Thunder.

League Issues Second Proposal To NHLPA

Six weeks after its initial proposal, the NHL submitted a second one to the NHLPA on Tuesday when the two sides met for talks at the league's offices in New York.

Gary Bettman said it was a counterproposal to the one the NHLPA unveiled earlier this month. Bettman said the latest one included "meaningful" movement and addressed core economic issues that could bring about a labor stoppage when the CBA expires on September 15.
