Vegas Golden Knights center Brett Howden did not suffer a serious injury but will be out indefinitely after being stretchered off the ice in Thursday night's win over the Nashville Predators, head coach Peter DeBoer said Friday.
Howden was taken to a Las Vegas hospital after the incident but was at the Knights' practice facility Friday. He did not play in the Knights' 5-4 overtime win over the Blackhawks on Saturday.
"Sore, nothing broken but probably out for a little while," DeBoer said Friday. "Scary situation and thankfully about as good a result as you can ask for out of something like that. He's pretty banged up today."
Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Joonas Korpisalo will have hip surgery and will miss the remainder of the season.
The NHL team said the 27-year-old Korpisalo will need at least six months to recover.
"This is an injury that Joonas has been dealing with for some time, and it has now gotten to the point where surgery is the best option," general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said. "We are disappointed for him, as he has worked extremely hard to be able to play, but this is the best course of action."
If the Los Angeles Kings reach the playoffs for the first time since 2018, they might have to do it without Drew Doughty, as general manager Rob Blake cannot say whether the standout defenseman will play again this season.
Doughty has missed the past six games after sustaining an upper-body injury against Boston on March 7.
Dallas Stars goaltender Anton Khudobin is expected to miss six months after having hip surgery, a move that almost certainly means Braden Holtby will remain with the team rather than getting moved before the trade deadline.
The 35-year-old Khudobin underwent arthroscopic surgery and had the labrum in his right hip repaired, general manager Jim Nill said Tuesday, a day after the procedure was done in New York.
Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog will undergo knee surgery on Monday, coach Jared Bednar said Saturday.
Though Bednar said there is "no timeline yet" with regard to Landeskog's rehabilitation and recovery, he is hopeful the veteran will be back before the end of the regular season.
