The Bruins say defenseman Andrew Ference has undergone successful surgery to repair an abdominal hernia and a torn groin, according to an Associated Press report.
Ference?s recovery time is estimated at four to six weeks following the surgery Wednesday at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Pens' Gonchar Played With Partially Torn MCL
Penguins defenseman Sergei Gonchar played the final two rounds of the playoffs with a partially torn right medial collateral ligament.
Gonchar suffered the injury in a knee-to-knee collision with Washington's Alex Ovechkin in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
"Lots of guys were playing with bruises," Gonchar said Sunday.
GM: Lidstrom Had Surgery During Playoffs
Red Wings general manager Ken Holland says captain Nicklas Lidstrom missed the last two games of the conference finals because of surgery.
Holland said the operation took place on May 24, but would not say what kind of procedure he underwent.
Lidstrom told the Detroit Free Press he had testicular surgery after he was speared by Chicago's Patrick Sharp in Game 3 on May 22.
He played in the Stanley Cup Finals.
Hatcher's Career Is Likely Over
Flyers defenseman Derian Hatcher underwent full right-knee replacement surgery June 1, the Flyers announced Friday.
The procedure likely signals the end of his career.
"It is a full knee replacement," Hatcher said. "I think they just go in there and saw some of the bone away and put the new knee in. I kind of know the process, but it is hard to explain.
"Rehab is not too bad. I am going about five times a week. For being 10 days out, I have made a ton of progress."
No NHL player has ever made a comeback to the ice with a brand new knee.
"I seriously doubt it," Hatcher said. "The doctor said no. So there you go."
Pens' Sykora Likely Out For Game 7
Penguins forward Petr Sykora could miss Game 7 with a right foot injury sustained during his first playing time in more than a month.
Sykora was seen leaving Mellon Arena on crutches Wednesday, with a brace on his right foot and ankle, after he was treated by the team's medical staff.
Bruins' Krejci Has Successful Hip Surgery
Bruins forward David Krejci had successful hip surgery on Thursday, and will need four to six months to recover.
Krejci led the NHL with a plus-minus rating of plus-37 this season.
