The NHL will head north for its 2024 All-Star Weekend, with Toronto tapped as host city for next winter's festivities.

League commissioner Gary Bettman made the announcement during a Saturday news conference ahead of this year's All-Star Game in South Florida. He invited Maple Leafs president and former NHL player Brendan Shanahan and current Leafs forward Mitchell Marner, representing the team at this weekend's proceedings, out to promote Toronto's future involvement.

Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin had a hat trick, Toronto Maple Leafs winger Mitchell Marner had three assists and the Atlantic Division topped the Central Division 7-5 in the All-Star Game final on Saturday.

All-Star Game MVP Matthew Tkachuk -- playing alongside his brother Brady Tkachuk of the Ottawa Senators -- had seven points on the day, after a five-point outburst in a semifinal win over the Metropolitan Division as he represented the hometown Florida Panthers for the first time. Larkin had five goals in the Atlantic's two games.

Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews and Boston Bruins leading scorer David Pastrnak are among the final 12 players voted into the 2023 NHL All-Star Game by fans.

The NHL All-Star Game and All-Star Skills competition will be held at FLA Live Arena, home of the Florida Panthers, in Sunrise, Fla, on Feb. 3-4. The All-Star Game will once again feature a 3-on-3 tournament between 11-player teams representing the league's four divisions.

Boston's Jim Montgomery will coach the Atlantic Division, Carolina's Rod Brind'Amour the Metropolitan, Dallas' Peter DeBoer the Central and Vegas' Bruce Cassidy the Pacific at NHL All-Star Weekend.

They were chosen because each of their teams is atop the division at the midway point of the season. The league announced the All-Star coaches Wednesday, less than a week after revealing the first 32 players picked for the Feb. 3-4 event in Sunrise, Florida.

The Metropolitan Division captured the 2022 NHL All-Star Game championship on Saturday, defeating the Central Division, 5-3, in the final round of its 3-on-3 tournament.

Philadelphia Flyers star Claude Giroux, the captain of the Metropolitan team, was named MVP and received a new Honda Passport for scoring three goals in the tournament, including two goals in the championship final.

Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin will not participate in the NHL All-Star Game in Las Vegas this weekend after entering the league's COVID-19 protocol Wednesday following a positive test result.

Centers Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Nazem Kadri of the Colorado Avalanche and Mika Zibanejad of the New York Rangers, and Anaheim winger Troy Terry won the final roster spots for All-Star Weekend as a result of fan voting, the NHL announced Monday.

The NHL has revealed its rosters for the 2022 All-Star Game in Las Vegas, with some significant names missing from the teams.

The All-Star Game again will feature four divisional teams -- Metropolitan, Atlantic, Central and Pacific -- playing in a 3-on-3 tournament. 

The All-Star Game will be Feb. 5 (3 p.m. ET on ABC and simulcast on ESPN+), with the skills competition taking place the day before on Feb. 4 (7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN) from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Alex Ovechkin, Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews and Nathan MacKinnon have led the race to be named captain of their respective teams for the 2022 Honda NHL All-Star Game wire to wire, with voting entering its final week before ending at 11:59 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Ovechkin, a forward for the Washington Capitals, has received 30.5 percent of the votes in the 2022 NHL All-Star Fan Vote from the Metropolitan Division and 7.7 percent of total votes. 

The NHL has postponed the 2021 Winter Classic and All-Star Game "due to the ongoing uncertainty resulting from the coronavirus," the league announced in a statement on Thursday.

The Winter Classic was scheduled to be played at Target Field in Minneapolis on New Year's Day, featuring the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues. The Florida Panthers were scheduled to host All-Star Weekend on Jan. 29-30. The league said it intends to return to both Minnesota and Florida for the signature events "in the near future."
