The NHL cleared Capitals star Evgeny Kuznetsov after a video surfaced Monday of him sitting next to a table on which there are two lines of white powder in what appears to be a hotel room.

NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said in a statement Friday that the league "thoroughly reviewed the situation" and considers the matter closed.

Gary Bettman told the Parliament of Canada that it would be impossible to completely eliminate all hits to the head in hockey.

Bettman said hockey is safer for players and different in terms of physical contact from football, where there are repeated blows to players' heads.

Bettman also posited he hasn't seen any evidence to link long-term brain damage with multiple blows to the head while playing hockey.
