Goalie Jose Theodore will miss at least some of the team's upcoming training camp after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery Wednesday. "Before it became a problem in the season, he had a minor scope to clean things up and it went fine," Avs media relations director Jean Martineau said.

The Avalanche have signed defenceman Brett Clark to a $7-million, two-year contract extension. Clark will earn $1.5 million this season in the final year of his old deal and then make $3.5 million in each of the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. The 30-year-old had a career-high 39 points (10-29) in 82 games last season. His 23:40 average ice-time per game led the Avalanche.

The Colorado Avalanche on Monday signed center Wyatt Smith and defenseman Wes O'Neill to one-year contracts. Financial terms were not disclosed.
