Avs Recall Cumiskey From AHL Lake Erie
The Avalanche on Monday recalled defenseman Kyle Cumiskey from Lake Erie of the AHL.
A seventh-round pick in 2005, the 20-year-old Cumiskey registered two points in nine games with the Avalanche last season.
Koivu Scores Late Goal To Keep Wild Unbeaten
Mikko Koivu just keeps getting better and the Wild just keep on winning.
With overtime looming just more three minutes away, Koivu made an athletic move to get to the net and score the game winner to help the Wild beat the Avalanche 3-2 on Sunday night.
"It happened so fast," Koivu said. "It's always tough for the goalie when it comes so quick, and that's what happened there. I don't know if he even knew that I got the puck."
Colorado's Stastny Off To Hot Start
Off to a hot start, Colorado Avalanche center Paul Stastny on Monday was named the NHL's "First Star" of the Week.
After a stellar rookie season in which he registered 28 goals and 78 points, Stastny is off to an impressive start in his sophomore campaign.
Stastny led all scorers last week with four goals and eight points. The highlight was a hat trick in a season-opening 4-3 win over Dallas.
Avs Goalie Theodore To Make AHL Rehab Start
Colorado Avalanche goaltender Jose Theodore will complete his rehabilitation from offseason knee surgery by starting in the season opener Saturday for the AHL Lake Erie Monsters.
The Avalanche said Jose, who had surgery in August, would return to Colorado on Sunday.
"Jose is in the final stages of his rehabilitation work and both our hockey staff and he agreed that actual game action would be the way to complete this process," general manager Francois Giguere.
Predators' Weber Suffers Leg Injury
Predators defenseman Shea Weber left Thursday's game against the Avalanche with a leg injury.
Weber played just four shifts for a total of 2 minutes, 19 seconds of ice time in the first period.
The 22-year-old Weber, who will not return to the game, will be re-evaluated on Friday.
