Hurricanes Re-Sign Coach Rod Brind'Amour

The Carolina Hurricanes re-signed coach Rod Brind'Amour and his staff to multiyear contracts, keeping one of the best in the NHL behind the bench around for the long term.

The team announced the re-signings Sunday for Brind'Amour, assistants Jeff Daniels and Tim Gleason, goaltending coach Paul Schonfelder and video coach Chris Huffine.

Milan marks the return of NHL players to the Olympics after missing the past two Games.

"We're excited to have Mike guiding our teams," U.S. general manager Bill Guerin said. "He is one of the very best coaches in the game and his background, including with international hockey, is well-suited to help put our team in the best position to win."

Leafs Hire Craig Berube As Head Coach

The Toronto Maple Leafs have hired Craig Berube as head coach.

Berube replaces Sheldon Keefe, who the Leafs fired on May 9. Berube was fired by the St. Louis Blues in December.

"We're not waiting," Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving said May 10. "We're going to be thorough. This isn't something that's going to be hastily done, but we certainly know that there's some quality candidates out there. We want to get them as fast as we possibly can."

A consultant the Chicago Blackhawks hired to improve relationships with American Indian tribes has filed a lawsuit accusing the team, its charity foundation and its CEO of fraud, breach of contract and sexual harassment.

Nina Sanders filed the civil action late Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court. She alleges in the lawsuit that the Blackhawks were facing intense public pressure to change their name and logo in 2020. The team's CEO, Danny Wirtz, hired her that year to serve as a tribal liaison.
