Centre Steven Stamkos and defenceman Drew Doughty, two key members of Canada's triumphant World Junior Team, are the top two players among North American skaters in the NHL Central Scouting Service mid-season ranking of players eligible for the 2008 entry draft.
Stamkos, who had a goal and five assists in seven games during the recently-completed world tournament, is No. 1. The six-foot-one, 183-pound native of Unionville, Ont., has 30 goals and 21 assists in 32 games with the OHL's Sarnia Sting.
Doughty had four assists during Canada's gold-medal run. The six-foot, 213-pound native of London, Ont., has seven goals and 24 assists in 30 games with the OHL's Guelph Storm.
