As criticism of the NHL coach's challenge grows louder around the league, commissioner Gary Bettman wants a little less scrutiny and a little more common sense in these reviews.

"We need to give a refresher to the officials. Take a good look, a quick look, but don't search it to death," Bettman said Saturday ahead of the NHL All-Star skills competition in Tampa.

NHL All-Star Game rosters were announced for the four divisional teams Wednesday, with some expected choices and some surprises ahead of the Jan. 28 contest in Tampa, Florida.

Lightning star Steven Stamkos will serve as captain of the Atlantic Division team in the NHL All-Star 3-on-3 tournament this month in Tampa, Florida.

Stamkos has 49 points for first-place Tampa Bay and is the face of the franchise.

Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin earned his 12th career All-Star nod as the fan-voted captain of the Metropolitan Division. Ovechkin leads the league with 26 goals.

Predators defenseman P.K. Subban was voted captain for the Metropolitan Division and Oilers center Connor McDavid captain of the Pacific Division.
