Leafs Sign Timothy Liljegren To Entry-Level Deal

The Maple Leafs announced today that the club has signed defenceman Timothy Liljegren to a three-year entry-level contract. Liljegren, 18, was selected by the Maple Leafs with the 17th overall pick in last month’s NHL Draft.

In 2016-17, the Kristianstad, Sweden native collected five points (one goal, four assists) in 19 games with Rogle BK (SHL), one assist in five games with Timra IK (Allsvenskan) and seven points (five goals, two assists) in 12 games with Rogle BK J20 (SuperElit).

Liljegren participated in the team’s development camp at MasterCard Centre in Toronto this week.

Zach Hyman signed a $10 million, four-year contract extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old forward was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season.

After 19 seasons in San Jose, Patrick Marleau, the Sharks' career leading goal scorer signed an $18.75 million, three-year contract with the Maple Leafs on Sunday in hopes of winning the Stanley Cup that has eluded him for so long.

"I think I've worn out a few carpets pacing around the house trying to make this decision over the last couple of days,'' Marleau said. "I'm extremely excited and happy to be a part of the Maple Leafs organization. It's definitely an honor to be able to call myself a Maple Leaf.''

Maple Leafs Sign Ron Hainsey To Two-Year Deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the club has signed free agent defenceman Ron Hainsey to a two-year contract with an average annual value of $3 million in each season.

Hainsey, 36, split last season between the Carolina Hurricanes and Pittsburgh Penguins, collecting 17 points (four goals, 13 assists) in 72 regular season games and eight points (two goals, six assists) in 25 playoff games while helping Pittsburgh capture a Stanley Cup championship.
