Patrick Roy said Thursday he's in no rush to return to coaching.

Roy, who has kept a low profile since resigning as coach of the Avalanche, met with the media for the first time since stepping down in August.

"Right now, I just want to enjoy myself," Roy said after dropping the puck before a World Cup of Hockey exhibition game in Quebec. "Obviously, if something happens, they need to talk to the Avalanche [for permission]."

Roy has one year remaining on his contract with the Avalanche. He also had served as the team's vice president of hockey operations
