Jamal Mayers officially announced his retirement from the NHL after 15 seasons on Friday, according to an ESPN.com report.

Mayers began his career with the Blues in the 1996-97 season and also played for the Maple Leafs, Flames, Sharks, and Blackhawks. He finished his career with 90 goals, 129 assists and 1,200 penalty minutes in 915 regular-season games.

Mayers finished his career playing with the Stanley Cup-winning Blackhawks last season.

Mayers said winning the Stanley Cup last season made it easier for him to retire.
