Goaltender Pascal Leclaire has announced his retirement from the NHL, citing a recurring hip problem.

Leclaire, 30, was taken by the Blue Jackets with the eighth pick of the 2001 Draft, and spent parts of six seasons with the team. He spent his final two seasons for the Senators after being traded to Ottawa in March 2009, but played just 48 games and sat out last season due to the hip problems.

He had three surgeries on his hip during last season, but has been unable to recover enough to allow him to play again.
