Sabres defenseman Teppo Numminen is out indefinitely because of a broken toe. The veteran of 18 NHL seasons was injured Thursday during a 3-1 loss in Florida. X-rays confirmed the break, the Sabres said Saturday.

Alex Ovechkin wasn't around to see the Capitals finish off the Eastern Conference's best team, but his teammates used their superstar's absence as a rallying point. Now the Capitals will wait to see if Ovechkin is further penalized for what the Sabres thought was a cheap shot.
