Coyotes Claim Klee Off Waivers From Ducks
Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have claimed defenseman Ken Klee off re-entry waivers from the Anaheim Ducks.
Klee, 37, has appeared in three games with the Ducks this season. Last season, he played in 72 games with the Atlanta Thrashers, recording 1-9-10 and 60 penalty minutes (PIM).
A 14-year veteran, Klee has appeared in 866 career NHL games with the Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Colorado Avalanche, Atlanta Thrashers and Anaheim Ducks while collecting 54-130-184 and 856 PIM, as well as a career rating of +21. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Klee has also recorded 2-2-4 and 50 PIM in 51 career playoff games. In 1998, he helped lead Washington to the Stanley Cup Finals against Detroit.
Klee was originally drafted by Washington in the ninth round (177th overall) of the 1990 Entry Draft. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Klee spent the first nine years of his career with the Capitals. Prior to his NHL career, he played three seasons at Bowling Green University. He has also represented the United States at the 2004 World Cup, the 1992 and 1997 World Championships and the 1991 World Junior Championships.
Ducks Place Klee On Waivers
The Ducks on Tuesday placed defenseman Ken Klee on waivers, as reported by Yahoo.com.
Teams have until 9 a.m. Pacific Time on Wednesday to claim Klee, who could be assigned to Iowa of the AHL.
Rangers Place Rissmiller On Waivers
According to a report by New York Newsday on Tuesday night, the Rangers placed left wing Patrick Rissmiller on waivers.
If no NHL team claims Rissmiller, who signed with New York over the summer, the club likely will assign him to Hartford of the AHL.
Blues Claim Koci Off Waivers From Lightning
The Blues on Tuesday claimed left wing David Koci on waivers from the Lightning, as reported by Yahoo.com.
Koci played in one game with Tampa Bay this season, posting four penalty minutes.
Lightning Claim Pettinger Off Waivers From Canucks
The Tampa Bay Lightning have claimed left wing Matt Pettinger off re-entry waivers from the Vancouver Canucks today, executive vice president of hockey operations Brian Lawton announced.
Pettinger, 6-foot-1, 198 pounds, has played in two games with the Manitoba Moose this season. He leads Manitoba in goals with three and power-play goals with two. Pettinger has played in 354 career games with Washington and Vancouver, recording 56 goals, 105 points, 11 power-play goals, eight shorthanded goals and nine game-winning goals.
The Edmonton, Alberta native played in 76 games last season with Washington and Vancouver. Pettinger played in 56 games with the Capitals, recording two goals and seven points before being traded to the Canucks in exchange for Matt Cooke on February 26, 2008. He registered four goals and six points in 20 games after the trade.
A former 20-goal scorer at the NHL level, Pettinger has also played in 144 career games in the AHL with Portland and Manitoba. He has amassed 39 goals and 72 points.
Pettinger was originally drafted by Washington in the second round, 43rd overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Report: Wings Place McCarty On Waivers
The Red Wings on Monday placed right wing Darren McCarty on waivers, according to a published report.
The Detroit News reported that if McCarty clears waivers, he could be sent to Grand Rapids of the AHL. All other NHL clubs have until noon on Tuesday to claim McCarty, who has been part of four championships with the Red Wings.
Kings Claim Quincey Off Waivers From Detroit
The Los Angeles Kings have claimed defenseman Kyle Quincey off waivers from Detroit, Kings' President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Last season Quincey, 23, had zero points and four penalty minutes in six games for the Red Wings and 20 points (5-15=20) in 66 games for the American Hockey League?s Grand Rapids Griffins.
The 6-2, 206-pound native of Kitchener, Ontario, was drafted by Detroit in the fourth round (132nd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. In 13 career NHL regular season games he has one point (1-0=1) and four penalty minutes. Quincey, who will wear jersey No. 27 with the Kings, has also suited up for 13 postseason games with the Red Wings, accumulating zero points and two penalty minutes. Before turning pro in 2005-06, Quincey played three years in the Ontario Hockey League with London and Mississauga.
Isles Claim Thompson From Boston
The Islanders added a center to their roster on Wednesday, claiming Nate Thompson off waivers from the Bruins, as reported by Yahoo.com.
A sixth-round pick in 2003, Thompson was placed on waivers by Boston on Tuesday.
