The Rangers are considered the front-runners to sign Brad Richards this summer, but he may turn out to be too expensive for them. Larry Brooks of The New York Post writes that more than one source has indicated that Richards will be looking for a contract worth at least $7 million annually. Brooks added that Richards has no plans to sign for a discount in order to reunite with coach John Tortorella, who he won a Stanley Cup with in Tampa Bay (2004). If a five-year contract worth $6.5 million annually isn't enough for Richards, the Rangers may be forced to act on a second plan.
