Hurricanes center Eric Staal, Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick and Islanders right wing Michael Grabner have been named the NHL 'Three Stars' for the week ending Jan. 30. Staal tallied four points in a pair of victories during an abbreviated week to help the Hurricanes close within one point of a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference. Quick registered a pair of victories heading into the All-Star break, helping the Kings gain valuable points and momentum in the tight race for playoff berths in the Western Conference. Grabner headed into the All-Star break by figuring in both Islanders goals (one goal, one assist) in a 4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Jan. 26.
