Brian Burke, President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Thursday that the club has acquired forward Fabian Brunnstrom from the Stars in exchange for forward Mikhail Stefanovich. Brunnstrom, 25, was originally signed by the Stars as a free agent on May 9, 2008. Since the 2008-09 season, the forward has played in 99 NHL games for Dallas collecting 40 points on 19 goals and 21 assists. In 37 games this season with the Texas Stars, Dallas? AHL affiliate, he has accumulated 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points, along with 16 penalty minutes and a plus four rating. Brunnstrom is expected to join the Toronto Marlies for their game on Friday at Abbotsford. Stefanovich had played this season for the Marlies, Reading (ECHL) and most recently Minsk (KHL). The Leafs originally drafted Stefanovich in the third choice, 98th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
