Detroit goalie Chris Osgood will leave the Red Wings to have a lingering groin injury examined by a specialist. Osgood, 38, missed all of November because of the injury. He was scheduled to start Saturday night against the Canucks but instead served as the backup to Jimmy Howard. "It's been a nagging groin injury and we want to get to the bottom of it," Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said. "Let's get an expert opinion, and if he needs surgery we'll get surgery. If the doctor feels he just needs time, then we'll take their lead."
