The Canadiens have updated Andrei Markov's injury status, announcing that the star defenseman indeed suffered a right knee injury and that a "long-term absence" was expected.
It was reported earlier this week that Markov could be out for months because of a lower-body injury.
Markov was injured Saturday night during a 7-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes, crumbling to the ice after injuring the same knee he had surgically repaired last summer.
