New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with free agent forward Andreas J?mtin. J?mtin, 25, skated in 51 games with HV71 of the Swedish Elite League (SEL) this past season, registering 17 goals and 13 assists for 30 points, along with 167 penalty minutes. He ranked fourth on the team in goals (17), ninth in points (30) and second in penalty minutes (167). The Danderyd, Sweden native established career-highs in games played (51), goals (17), points (30), and penalty minutes (167). In addition, he helped HV71 capture the SEL championship, recording one goal and five assists for six points, along with 36 penalty minutes in 17 post-season contests. The 6-0, 192-pound forward has appeared in 239 career SEL games with F?rjestads BK, AIK and HV71, collecting 45 goals and 53 assists for 98 points, along with 660 penalty minutes. Two seasons ago, the winger tied for third on the team in goals (14) and ranked second in penalty minutes (150). In 2005-06, he split the season between HV71 (SEL) and TPS of SM-liiga in Finland, where he tallied eight goals and seven assists for 15 points, along with 81 penalty minutes in 37 contests. In addition, he has appeared in 56 career SEL playoff games with HV71, registering nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points, along with 168 penalty minutes. J?mtin won his first SEL championship in 2004, recording three goals and three assists for six points, along with 68 penalty minutes in 16 post-season matches. Internationally, J?mtin has represented his native Sweden in several tournaments. Most recently, he wore his country?s colors at the 2003 World U-20 Championship in Canada, where he collected one goal and a team-leading four assists for five points in six games. He was a member of Team Sweden at the 2002 World U-20 Championship, and also participated in the World U-18 Championship in 2001.
