The Los Angeles Kings have acquired a third-round draft selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for defenseman Jaroslav Modry, Kings' President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. The Kings now have three selections in the third round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft in addition to two selections in the first round and two selections in the second round. Modry, who turns 37 on February 27, played in 61 games with the Kings this season and had six points (1-5=6) and 42 penalty minutes. The 6-2, 220-pound native of Ceske-Budejovice, Czech Republic, has played in 706 career regular season NHL games with the Kings, Dallas Stars, Atlanta Thrashers, Ottawa Senators, and New Jersey Devils and has recorded 247 points (49-198=247) and 502 penalty minutes. He played with the Kings two times ? from 2007-08 and from 1995-04 -- and among Kings' defensemen all-time, he ranks seventh in games played (454) and ninth in points (164). Modry also represented the Kings at the 2002 NHL All-Star Game at STAPLES Center.
