The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated right wing Derek Dorsett off injured reserve and assigned him to the Syracuse Crunch, the club?s American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets' General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Dorsett had been sidelined with a leg stress fracture since September 25. Columbus?s ninth pick, 189th overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft, Dorsett spent the past three seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League. He registered 49 goals and 79 assists for 128 points with 593 penalty minutes and a cumulative +42 plus/minus rating in 180 career games. In 2006-07, he tallied a career-high 19-45-64 and added 209 penalty minutes in 61 games and added 8-8-16 in 17 playoff games to help the Tigers win the WHL championship and gain a berth in the Memorial Cup Tournament.
