The Los Angeles Kings have assigned forward Matt Moulson to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, Kings' President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Moulson, 24, was recalled by the Kings on Thursday and made his Kings/NHL debut on Friday at San Jose, where he recorded his first career goal. In two games with the Kings, Moulson has one point (a goal) and zero penalty minutes. At the time of his recall, Moulson was leading the Monarchs with five goals in eight games this season and his nine points overall (5-4=9) ranked third on the team. The 6-1, 210-pound native of North York, Ontario, also shared the club lead with three power play goals. Moulson led Manchester in regular season games played (77), goals (25) and plus/minus rating (plus-26) last season and he tied for the team lead with 57 points overall (25-32=57). Originally selected by Pittsburgh in the ninth-round (263rd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Moulson signed with the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on September 1, 2006.
