Maple Leafs left wing Mark Bell has been suspended indefinitely without pay on Monday after being placed into Stage Two of the NHL's substance abuse program, according to a report on TSN of Canada.
Bell, 27, will be eligible for reinstatement upon the recommendation of the program's doctors, along with the approval of both the NHL and the NHLPA.
In August, Bell pleaded no contest to drunk driving with injury and hit-and-run charges.
He will also serve six months in Santa Clara County jail at the end of the season.
