Calgary Flames General Manager Darryl Sutter announced today the signings of Matthew Lombardi to a three year contract extension, and Marcus Nilson to a two year extension. As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Lombardi, playing in his 3rd NHL season, registered a career high in goals (20), assists (26), points (46) and penalty minutes (48) while playing in 81 games during the 2006-07 season. Lombardi also appeared in all six playoff games vs. Detroit registering a goal and an assist. In 215 career NHL regular season games, the Montreal, Quebec native has posted 101 points (42 goals, 59 assists) and 128 penalty minutes. The Flames drafted Lombardi in the 3rd round (90th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
