The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed University of Alaska-Fairbanks defenseman Darcy Campbell to a two-year entry level contract, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today. Campbell is expected to join the Blue Jackets immediately. Campbell, 22, played three seasons at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, where he registered 11 goals and 39 assists for 50 points with 175 penalty minutes in 114 career games. During his recently completed junior season, he tallied 4-20-24 and 52 penalty minutes and set new career highs for assists and points. The Airdrie, Alberta native played three seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League before joining the Nanooks as a freshman in 2004-05.
