The Jackets have claimed left wing Colton Gillies off waivers from the Wild, club Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and GM Scott Howson announced today. Gillies, 22, has registered two assists and 10 penalty minutes in 37 games with Minnesota this season and has 3-7-10 and 30 penalty minutes in 89 career NHL games with the Wild. In 2010-11, he notched 11-15-26 and 82 penalty minutes in 64 games with the Houston Aeros, Minnesota’s AHL affiliate. Minnesota’s first pick, 16th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Gillies played four seasons with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL.
