Lightning center Steven Stamkos, Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin and Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick have been named the NHL 'Three Stars' for the week ending Jan. 1. Stamkos surged to the NHL goal-scoring lead by notching six goals as the Lightning posted three consecutive victories and moved within six points of the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Ovechkin recorded seven points (five goals, two assists) and a +4 rating as the Capitals won three of four starts. Quick helped the Kings jump to first place in the Pacific Division by posting a 3-0-0 record with a 1.33 goals-against average and .958 save percentage, including victories over the first- and second-ranked teams in the Western Conference.
