Before the start of this season, when Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren mentioned to Ed Snider he wanted to add time to coach John Stevens' contract, the Flyers' chairman offered the following advice. "Do what you think is right," Snider told Holmgren. Monday, Holmgren acknowledged he is working on a contract extension for Stevens that will keep him with the Flyers through at least the 2008-09 season, possibly longer. "It's time to get some extra time on his contract," Holmgren said. "He's a tremendous young coach who continues to get better. He's a very strong communicator and I like what he's doing with the team."
