Canadiens Win 3,000th Game

Oct 11, 2014 9:07 AM

Maxim Lapierre scored the final three goals of the game as the Canadiens defeated the Panthers to record their 3,000th regular season victory. They have the most regular season wins in NHL history. "There are nights like this," Lapierre said. "There are nights you're alone with the goalie and nothing goes in and other nights where it seems the puck always finds your stick at the right time. That's what happened tonight." The hat trick was the first of Lapierre's three-year NHL career.

Sharks Set NHL's Best 30-Game Start

Jul 24, 2014 7:21 AM

The Sharks passed the 1929-30 Bruins to set an NHL record for the most points, 52, through the first 30 games of the season. "We like to think that with the good start we had, a lot teams have us circled on the schedule," Ryan Clowe said. "They want to play their best and they are motivated to play us. The Kings played hard. They're not giving up a lot of shots for a reason. They play a good game in their own end." San Jose also tied that same Boston team for the most wins through the first 30 games with its 25th. The Kings extended the NHL's best team to a shootout before losing to them for the third time in three tries this season.

Modano Scores 1,300th Point Of Career

Jul 23, 2014 4:41 PM

Stars center Mike Modano scored the 1,300th point of his career in the team's win over the Oilers on Sunday. Modano, already the leading American-born scorer in league history, is now one of just 31 players to reach 1,300 points. "I've been lucky to be around for a long time and a bit old, but I've been fortunate to be in the game for a long time and I'm very blessed about it," said Modano, who first broke in with the Minnesota North Stars in 1989. "Teammates and coaches along the way had their hands in there. It's something I thought about and wanted to get it over with."
