The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired center Mark Mowers from Boston in exchange for defensemen Brett Skinner and Nathan Saunders. At the same time, the club also announced it has assigned center Petteri Wirtanen to Portland, Anaheim?s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). Mowers, 33, (2/16/74), spent the 2006-07 season with the Boston Bruins, scoring 5-12=17 points with 26 PIM in 78 games played. He set numerous career highs with the Bruins last season, including goals, assists, points, PIM, games played and average TOI (12:00). Originally signed by Nashville as a free agent on June 11, 1998, Mowers has played in six NHL seasons with Nashville, Detroit and Boston. In 261 career NHL games, he has collected 17-44=61 points with 62 PIM.
