John Ferguson, vice-president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Friday that Jeff Jackson has been promoted to the position of Assistant General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations. He had been serving in the role of Director of Hockey Administration since he joined the organization on June 23, 2006. Jackson?s responsibilities will continue to include collective bargaining related duties, contract negotiations, salary arbitration and cap management. In his new position he will oversee the development and management of the Maple Leafs budget as well as an increased role in the operations of the Toronto Marlies Hockey Club. ?Jeff has excelled at the numerous duties he has held for the past 14 months and is an invaluable member of our organization,? said Ferguson. ?With his past experience in the National Hockey League and his knowledge of the business side of the game, we feel he has a tremendous future in management."
