Lightning Buy Out Goalie Marc Denis

RealGM Staff Report - The Tampa Bay Lightning have bought out the contract of goaltender Marc Denis today, Executive Vice President and General Manager Jay Feaster announced. Denis had one year remaining on his contract.

"Needless to say, we are all sorry things didn't work out differently for Marc with our organization,? Feaster said. ?To his credit, Marc has been the ultimate professional to the very end, handling this news with the same dignity and grace as he has handled everything that has happened during his tenure in Tampa. We wish him nothing but success as he moves forward with his career."

Denis played in 54 games in two seasons with Tampa Bay from 2006-08. He posted a record of 18-23-1 with a .879 save percentage and a 3.32 goals-against average. In 2006-07 he posted a 17-18-1 record with a .883 save percentage and a 3.19 goals-against average in 44 games. He ranked fourth in the NHL, first among goaltenders with more than six shots faced, in shootout save percentage with .900, stopping 18 of 20 attempts against. He earned a 4-1 record in shootouts.
