Coyotes Draft Shane Doan's Son Josh In Second Round

Four years after Shane Doan hung up his skates, the Arizona Coyotes added his oldest son to the organization.

The Coyotes took Josh Doan with the 37th pick in the NHL draft Saturday, bringing in a player homegrown in the Valley to the franchise his father was the face of for two decades.

Logan Mailloux was selected by the Montreal Canadiens with the 31st overall pick in the NHL draft Friday night, despite the Canadian teenager asking teams not to pick him after he was fined for an offense of a sexual nature in Sweden last year.

Mailloux, 18, was fined by Swedish police for showing a photo to his teammates via Snapchat that depicted him and a woman engaged in a consensual sexual act. The photo that was taken without consent of the the woman, who went to local police.

Sabres Select Owen Power With First Overall Pick In NHL Draft

The Buffalo Sabres selected University of Michigan defenseman Owen Power with the first pick in the NHL Draft on Friday night.

Power, 18, was the No. 1 ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting. His selection marks just the fourth time in NHL history that an NCAA player has gone first overall, joining forward Joe Murphy (1986, Detroit Red Wings), goalie Rick DiPietro (2000, New York Islanders) and defenseman Erik Johnson (2006, St. Louis Blues).

Owen Power, Projected No. 1 Draft Pick, To Interview With Sabres

Owen Power, the projected No. 1 pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, said he will interview for the first time with the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday.

The Sabres won the NHL Draft Lottery on June 2 and could select the University of Michigan defenseman, who is No. 1 in NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of North American skaters. The Seattle Kraken, who begin play next season, hold the No. 2 pick.

Reiterating what he told NHL Network on June 11, Power said Tuesday that he plans to return to Michigan next season but hasn't made a final decision.
