The Avalanche announced today that the team has signed captain Adam Foote to a one-year contract for the upcoming 2010-11 season. ?Adam?s veteran leadership has been and will continue to be a big part of our success,? said Avalanche GM/Executive Vice President Greg Sherman. ?He provided stability last season and set an example for our young players right from the start of training camp. We are pleased to have our captain back for another year.? ?This organization is definitely heading in the right direction and I am excited to be a part of it,? said Foote. ?Having a young group like we did last year come together and compete at a high level was very special. We?re looking to carry that momentum into next season.? Foote, who turns 39 on July 10, will be embarking on his 19th season in the NHL, his 17th with the Avalanche/Nordiques franchise. Foote, who was named team captain on Sept. 11, 2009, is only the second captain in Avalanche history and just the ninth in the 30-year history of the franchise. He tallied nine points (0g/9a) and was +8 in 67 games this past season. Foote added one assist in six playoff contests.
