Columbus Blue Jackets center Derick Brassard, who suffered a dislocated shoulder on December 18 at Dallas, will undergo surgery and miss the rest of the 2008-09 season, club General Manager Scott Howson announced today. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Anthony Miniaci, Director of the Cleveland Clinic Sports Health Center, in early-January. Columbus? first pick, sixth overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft, Brassard was the NHL?s Rookie of the Month in October and had collected points in 20-of-31 games this season. He made his NHL debut a year ago, tallying 1-1-2 and six penalty minutes in 17 games. He also notched 15-36-51 and 51 penalty minutes in 42 games with the Syracuse Crunch, the Blue Jackets? American Hockey League affiliate in 2007-08.
