Chris Chelios, 46, played for the Grand Rapids Griffins during a loss to the Marlies on Friday, becoming the oldest player in the 73-year history of the AHL, as reported by Yahoo.com.
The Red Wings' veteran, sent to Grand Rapids for conditioning, had not played since fracturing his right tibia while blocking a shot in a Detroit preseason contest on September 30.
Chelios received a ovation from the 9,000-plus crowd who attended the game.
